First of all, we need a few files for installation.
- OVA
- Bootable file
- Locale (Optional)
- VMware ESXi or VMware Workstation
Normally we use ESXi for production but I used Workstation for the lab.
Step 1, we need to use the OVA file to import pre-defined VM settings.
Step 2, Set a name and storage path.
Step 3, Set deployment option, For this lab, we're going to choose the smallest users option.
Step 4, Now, we're going to load a bootable file into the new VM.
Step 5, Once ISO file is loaded, let's get started.
Step 6, See below.
Step 7, We're not going to apply an upgrade patch while installation so select No.
Step 8, Set Timezone, shortcut for Sydney is, type B and uparrow.
Step 9, Configure Network details
The hostname is very important, it has to be matched with internal DNS server.
I already have "cucm" hostname so this time I will put "cucmm"
Step X, Yes on DNS client and enter DNS server and domain then OK.
Step XI, Enter NTP server as per your location. In this case, I used "131.188.3.221"
Step XII, No on SMTP Host Configuration
Step XIII, Select Smart Call Home Option - https://youtu.be/r9G_K1neUo0?si=9pDB56hLsJzzSRWd
Optional for Step X, Create Host A file for this instance.
Verification, open command prompt or powershell, type nslookup, set type=srv and hostname url
I will post DNS server installation guide soon and the next post will cover on locale installation via sftp server and initiating services.
